Tephra's Scribbles
![]()
Every now than then I give into the urge to write something. Most of it is never read by anyone else but there are a few bits that I feel confident enough to share with the public at large. I do not expect this page to be updated that frequently but stranger things have been known to happen.
Poetry
These are a few of my poems. Most were written in response to 'word sets' in poetry challenge threads in Alt.Fan.Dragons. The folks of AFD are a creative sort and for nearly a year there were word sets appearing at least once a week, sometimes once a day or even more often. As with all good things it didn't last.
- "I remember..." - a softly melancholy poem of remembrance
- "Angel" - a bit of spiritual fluff in answer to word list challenge
- "Storm Rising" - my favorite and more typical of my natural 'style'
- "I know you" - something I wrote coming out of a darker period of my life
- "Truth" - a bit of love inspired poetry, more passionate than sappy I think
- "Demons" - written around the same time as "Truth" though the last stanza is new
- "Revenge" - some fallen angel imagery
- "The Death of Love" - a somewhat prophetic poem about an ending relationship
- "Haiku" - a page that will eventually hold more than one haiku
- "Red Rose Petals" - a poem that I've been trying to write for months
- "The Searing Hour" - some 'sound poetry', or maybe it's just surreality
Rants & Rambles
Just what the name implies, my rants and ramblings on a variety of topics. Things here are probably the sorts of things that get people to haul out flame throwers. Odds are good that e-mail to me taking offense from these will just be deleted so don't bother.
- A rant on job hunting - a short rant after getting turned down for yet another job.
- A rant on baby dolls - I got mildly annoyed at a 'My Real Baby' ad on TV.
- A ramble on hugs - yes, I've actually pondered something as common as a hug.
- A ramble on Darkness & Light - this may be depressing, disturbing, or enlightening.
- Installing Linux - a bit of humour by a guest writer, William J. Rogers, Jr. (AKA: Havoc).
- "Better to have loved..." - my short opinion on the whole 'loved and lost' thing.
- Entitlement Attitudes - a rant, I've spared you the original profanity laden version.
- Surreal Reality - a short ramble about an odd occurrence.
- The "Gay Marriage" Ruling - a mild rant or a ramble, not sure which
- May 17th, 2004 - I wouldn't really call this a ramble, and it's certainly not a rant, a short commentary maybe.
Stories
I never seem to have time to write stories any more, or at least complete them. Writer's block is an evil, evil thing.
- Thou Shalt Not Peep - Not one of my finest but if you keep in mind that it was written to satisfy a friend's somewhat odd fetish I think you'll agree it could have been much, much worse.
- Drabbles - A place to put all the super short vignettes. Most of these are fan fiction sorts of things.
